چکیده

conclusions time plays an important role in treatment results of femoral neck fractures. to treat the fractures, closed reduction and fixation using cannulated screws may still be the best option. objectives the present study aimed to evaluate long-term results of delayed fixation of femoral neck fractures using cannulated screws. patients and methods this retrospective descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 26 patients with femoral neck fractures. the patients were treated through a closed reduction and fixation method using cannulated screws. patients were followed up for at least five years and the rate of complications was determined. results in this study, 26 patients with mean age of 34.3 years were assessed. average time interval from injury to surgery was 46.4 ± 12.2 hours; 18 patients (69%) were operated on with more than 36 hours of delay. incidence of avn and non:union: was reported in 10 (38.4%) and 3 (11.5%) patients, respectively. background femoral neck fractures are urgent injuries that require precise reduction and stable fixation. in some cases, however, early treatment is not possible.

Long-term follow-up of children with femoral neck fractures.

Of 92 children reviewed three to five years after treatment for fractured neck of femur (Lam 1976), we have been able to reassess 41, both clinically and radiographically, at 13 to 23 years after injury. The earlier clinical results had been excellent, despite a high incidence of complications; but the new, later review shows an 83% incidence of radiographic abnormality while 24% of the patient...

Long-term follow-up of replacement compared with internal fixation for displaced femoral neck fractures: results at ten years in a randomised study of 450 patients.

In a series of 450 patients over 70 years of age with displaced fractures of the femoral neck sustained between 1995 and 1997 treatment was randomised either to internal fixation or replacement. Depending on age and level of activity the latter was either a total hip replacement or a hemiarthroplasty. Patients who were confused or bed-ridden were excluded, as were those with rheumatoid arthriti...

Clinical Results of Internal Fixation of Subcapital Femoral Neck Fractures.

BACKGROUND Subcapital femoral neck is known to cause many complications, such as avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head or nonunion, compared with other femoral neck fractures. The purpose of this study was to analyze the incidence of AVN and fixation failures in patients treated with internal fixation using cannulated screws for the subcapital femoral neck fractures. METHODS This study...

Failed internal fixation of femoral neck fractures.

BACKGROUND There are two types of surgical treatment for fractures of the femoral neck; internal fixation and arthroplasty. Internal fixation is associated with a higher risk of complications such as secondary displacement, non-union and avascular necrosis. To improve treatment results of internal fixation, we have tried to identify procedure related risk-factors associated with fixation failur...

Long-term outcome of undisplaced fatigue fractures of the femoral neck in young male adults.

The incidence and long-term outcome of undisplaced fatigue fractures of the femoral neck treated conservatively were examined in Finnish military conscripts between 1970 and 1990. From 106 cases identified, 66 patients with 70 fractures were followed for a mean of 18.3 years (11 to 32). The original medical records and radiographs were studied and physical and radiological follow-up data analys...
